Years ago I heard this song, In Memory (The Tender Years) by the late Sandy Denny. It’s a beautiful song, full of raw sadness and longing – it really stuck with me.

The opportunity came up to explore a Remembrance Day promo for some of the military films available on NOW. Suddenly Denny’s track came back to me. It was the perfect fit. I didn’t want to make some ‘Rah-Rah’ patriotic thing, I wanted to explore the loss of young life and make sacrifice the central theme. 

This wasn’t about selling the content as entertainment, it was about showing how these movies are powerful stories that expose us to the senseless tragedy of war.
